Located in the Pacific Northwest, Idaho is a state primarily associated with mountains and outdoor recreation. In fact, there is a ski resort located near almost every urbanized area. Although Idaho is about 350 miles from the Pacific Ocean, it still experiences similar climate changes associated with states bordering the ocean. Winters are not terribly cold although Idaho is known for increased cloud cover and precipitation during this time. Although snow can be severe during the winter, an open hauler is usually appropriate for auto shippers traveling through the state during all times of the year.

Of course, cars should still be waterproofed. The changes in temperature that are associated with elevation changes while traveling through Idaho can cause a build up of snow to melt quickly. With soft top cars, this can cause leaks around the edges that can damage car interiors.

There are three major highways that run through Idaho. In the North, I-90 runs through the small tip of the state in Coeur d’ Alene. I-84 runs through the southern portion of the state and passes through Boise. Finally, I-15 spans the eastern edge of Idaho and runs through Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
