A mid-Atlantic state, Maryland is known as being one of the most varied states as far as topography is concerned. Regions range from sand dunes to forested mountains and everything in between. By far, the most populated regions of the state are around Baltimore and Washington D.C. Of course, the heavy regional traffic in these areas has the potential to cause delays in auto shipping but they are usually quite rare when compared to other metropolitan areas in the surrounding states.

However, the Chesapeake Bay nearly cuts the state in half meaning that there are only two points of access to the portion of Maryland bordering Delaware. Auto shipments from “mainland” Maryland to the nearly cut off southern portion may take longer than normally expected. This is especially true if occasional strong storms prevent heavy traffic to East Maryland. However, as eastern Maryland is not nearly as populated as West Maryland, traffic is not know to be congested to or from this area. Due to land masses such as the eastern tip of Virginia and the Delaware/East Maryland area, major hurricanes are not likely to strike the most populated areas of the state.
