Bordered on the North by Canada, Montana is one of the least densely populated states and one of the most mountainous, a distinction that earned it it’s name – which is derived from the Spanish word for mountain. In the central portion of the state, snowfall can occur during any month of the year. The only months when this is rare are June and July. Winters can get quite cold. In fact, the lowest temperature recorded in the continental United States was taken in Montana, -70 F at Roger’s Pass. Due to the geographical and climate concerns of Montana, it is a very good idea to use an enclosed hauler for most cars, especially during the winter months.

Due to the rise in temperature in Montana in the past few decades, new concerns are arising in Montana, mainly in the form of the bark beetle. These insects were previously nearly eliminated by the harsh winters in the state. However, with temperatures rising, the bark beetles have made a comeback and are now attacking many forested areas in the state. For auto shippers, this can mean possible delays in the form of downed trees over roads and severe forest fires. According to a recent study, Montana will soon experience a 200% increase in area burned by forest fires.
