North Dakota

Located in the Midwest, North Dakota is bordered on the North by Canada and on the South by South Dakota. This state is known for it’s temperature extremes depending on the time of the year. The record highest temperature is 121 degrees F while the lowest recorded temperature in the state is -60 degrees F. North Dakota is not a mountainous state. In fact, it is characterized by mostly plains. Throughout the history of the state, only 2% of the area in North Dakota has been covered by forested regions. All of these factors contribute to few geographical considerations for auto shippers.

Two major climate concerns for auto shippers in North Dakota are both common during the spring season. Flooding over roads is very common at this time of the year. In addition, very strong winds can blow debris onto the roads that can cause traffic delays for auto shipping companies. During the winter, temperatures can be quite harsh, particularly in the North of the state. Heavily packed snow and ice are cited in many traffic accidents along the major highways running through the state. Cars shipped through North Dakota during the winter may require an enclosed hauler, especially in the particularly harsh months of January and February.
