Auto Transport Tennessee

Located directly below Kentucky, Tennessee is the beginning of the southeastern portion of the United States. Nashville is the capital of Tennessee with the state’s 2nd largest population. Memphis is the state’s largest city with a population of 670, 902. However, Nashville hosts the largest metropolitan area in the state with a total population in excess of 1.5 million. These large population centers can cause delays for auto shippers if vehicles are shipped to the city areas. However, if an automobile is shipped through Tennessee, these areas are typically avoided to prevent traffic backups and jams.

Tennessee is not a flat state. In fact, all three geographical portions of the state (West, Central and East) are characterized by a variety of elevation changes varying from rolling hills to mountains. Most of the state is quite humid with summer temperature averaging in the 80s. However, the major problems for auto shippers in Tennessee are severe thunderstorms (more than 50 every year) and frequent foggy conditions. Both of these can cause delays in auto shipments across the state. Most auto shippers will recommend enclosed haulers within and through the state for soft top and rare cars. Although tornadoes are not as common in Tennessee as they are in states like Kansas and Iowa, they can be very severe and debris from such storms can cause frequent traffic delays.
