Vermont

Vermont is a New England state that has the second lowest population in the country at 621,670 at last count. Vermont is the only state in New England that does not touch the Atlantic Ocean. However, 50% of its western border is covered by Lake Champlain. This, of course, is one of the primary reasons for auto shipping delays from northern New York to Vermont. Auto shippers must either use a single road crossing this lake (still causing delays due to its winding through the largest Lake Champlain island) or go completely around this very large body of water.

While the distance from Plattsburg, New York to Burlington, Vermont, for example, may seem like a very short trip for auto shippers, the delivery time could be extended by several hours due to the abundance of Lake Champlain.

Vermont has a humid continental climate that makes for hot summers and cold winters. The northern areas of the state are known for much colder winters than the rest of the state. In fact, average temperatures are around 10 degrees F lower in the north than they are in southern Vermont. During the winter, it is wise to use an enclosed hauler for rare or expensive automobiles.
