Located in the northwest corner of the United States, Washington is a state the generally has three different geographical regions – deep rainforests, mountains and semi-deserts. The majority of people that live in Washington reside in the Seattle area, 60%. In fact, the area along Interstate 5, which runs through Seattle, is where the vast majority of the more than 6,000,000 people that live in the state reside. The average annual temperature of Washington is a cool 51 degrees F. However, the main climate considerations for auto shippers are rain and dense fog that comes from the Pacific Ocean. Such fog can get so thick that it prevents normal traffic speeds. Of course, the frequent rain associated with the West portion of Washington can leak through unsealed portions of cars and effect the interior. While most hard top cars will not likely be damaged, some cars with softer tops must be properly sealed prior to transport. Even in the winter, most cars traveling through Washington should be protected adequately by an open hauler.
